HealthB.S., Eastern Michigan University – Physical Education – Physical Education for Students with Disabilities – Health
I started teaching at FlexTech High School in the fall of 2012 after earning a Bachelor of Science degree for teaching Physical Education, Health, and Physical Education for Students will Disabilities at Eastern Michigan University. As the daughter of a teacher and student to many wonderful teachers, a lot of my inspiration for becoming a teacher comes from the wonderful teachers I have had and been around. I am also very inspired by the way living a physically active and healthy life can better people’s lives and love getting to share that with students. I also love working in a caring environment with a staff that is devoted to helping students in any way possible. I currently teach Advisory for the classes of 2017 and 2019, Fitness Education, Yoga, Health, and Student and Community Outreach. My goal with all of these classes is to help empower students through learning about and appreciating different health-enhancing practices, helping them to grow and develop through social and emotional learning, and helping them feel more connected to the school and community.
When I am not teaching, I love to spend time with my husband Eric and son Patrick, family and friends, travel, work on different craft projects, be outside, and participate in anything active. Some of my favorite activities include Soccer, Running, Yoga, Kayaking, Snowboarding, Wakeboarding, and Hiking. My husband is a teacher as well, and in the summers he works as a Captain of a fishing boat in Alaska and I as a deckhand.BACK TO TEAM
