I have loved being a part of the FlexTech family since joining the team in the fall of 2015. I was drawn to the school because of the way project-based learning is leveraged to engage students in mastering academic content and applying their knowledge and skills in relevant and meaningful ways.
I came to education after working in a few different fields, including the non-profit sector. Through the opportunities I had working with young people, I discovered that youth empowerment work was what I wanted to spend my time doing. And that is what I believe that education is at its best–a tool of empowerment. I eventually decided that I wanted to work with young people in the classroom, and specifically in math education, because of the opportunities it presents to equip students with tools they can use to impact their communities and apply to their personal and professional lives.
When I’m not in the classroom I can be found riding my bicycle around ANn Arbor, reading, eating cereal and spending time with my amazing family and friends.
