I really enjoy learning and that joy, along with the eagerness to share with others, made teaching the right choice. I guess you can say that I fall under the category “life-long learner,” and this curiosity fuels my passion for teaching. I joined the FlexTech team in 2013 as an English Language Arts teacher. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in ELA and history with a secondary teaching endorsement from Eastern Michigan University. In 2012 I earned my Master’s degree in Literature from EMU and spent two and a half years teaching freshman composition and poetry at the postsecondary level. After teaching at EMU I spent time teaching middle school in Southfield and Ypsilanti. Now, at FlexTech, I enjoy taking my experiences and applying them to a project based model. I love helping students pursue their interests and the English classroom at FlexTech provides that opportunity. In addition to encouraging students to pursue personal interests I also provide coaching to make connections in the local community. Being able to create these opportunities for students is one of my favorite parts of teaching at FlexTech.
Outside of school I enjoy spending time with family and embarking on the occasional NetFlix binge with my wife Sarah. My two cats (Sebastian and Eliot) always add some type of excitement to our home life, whether it be knocking glasses off the table or meowing at birds and squirrels from the window’s ledge. We have been in our new home for a little over a year and I have found myself working in the garden and finding new projects inside every week.BACK TO TEAM
