I have been lucky to be a part of the FlexTech staff since 2012. Each year has been a unique and meaningful learning experience for me and my students. My passion for Project Based Learning continues to grow each year. I sincerely believe that PBL is the educational model of the future, one that provides students the most authentic learning experiences, with a focus on 21st century skills.
Teaching is my second career. After graduating from Michigan State University in ‘99, I moved to Florida in search for my first job in television. Like so many others, life took me in another direction. I found myself working in the restaurant business in Tampa, working toward corporate management. It was enjoyable, but I never really felt I was doing something for which I was meant. It wasn’t long before I found myself back in Lansing, attending Michigan State University with the hopes of being a History teacher. It was a long and tough path, but I am thankful and happy I did it.
I grew up in Lansing, Michigan, attending Waverly High School and living at the hockey rink. Playing youth hockey was a huge part of my life when I was young. I am a fiend for all things music and film, many times blending these things into my projects and instruction. I spend a lot of time with family, enjoy watching the ALL Spartan athletics, Red Wings, MMA, and going to the gym.BACK TO TEAM
