BS-Eastern Michigan University, Secondary Mathematics and Secondary Integrated Science

I joined FlexTech High School just after the start of the second semester of the 2011/12 school year. I was brought on board to help out with the math and science classes as a part-time paraprofessional while I worked on opening a restaurant with a business partner. It was during this time that I realized that while I do have a passion for food, my true passion was in education. I made the decision to break-off the business partnership and return to school to complete my degree in teaching. I continued to work in that capacity while I took classes part-time at EMU. I finally completed my degree last year doing my student teaching in the Ypsilanti school district. When not at FlexTech, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Nancy, and our daughter, Gillian. Most of my weekends are spent, either with my wife at various art shows throughout the state, where she sells her beautiful jewelry, or on the sidelines of Gillian’s sporting events. We love going up north whenever we can, and traveling in general. My daughter and I have both taken up kayaking and we can be found many summer days paddling on local rivers and lakes. I have worn many hats in my life but believe I have truly found my home here at FlexTech. I look forward to inspiring students to have passion in learning throughout their lives. I also try to encourage them to “live” their lives to the fullest. I have had the pleasure to have enjoyed some amazing experiences during my life, and I am continually sharing them with the students, and how the particular lessons apply to these “real-world” situations.
